Airpower and nothing on the ground - oops
No clear objective, no clear mission stated; an emotional response hoping that things would sort themselves out but without putting in place the plan and resources to make sure it happens. You have to worry about the intelligence estimates, and the judgment of our leaders.

In vino veritas. And so it would seem for John Galliano, or was it? His drunken comments were so ludicrous, such a crass and egregious abomination, that it defies belief that anyone outside the camps of the most extreme, ridiculous, right wing political parties could contemplate such words and thoughts.

Of course there is one way to justify military support to Libyan rebels but it needs a redefining of the way we do international intervention. We keep making the mistake of occupying countries. But, we have the military might (well, the US does), the technology, the intelligence services...

What’s with the paragons of journalistic independence? Today Christina Patterson in the Independent, and Max Hastings in his tabloid of choice, The Mail, are slashing at the Assange throat. Max has become the elder statesman and defender of the Establishment (happens to lots of us in our dotage), but Miss Patterson? Not sure what has sparked her revulsion...
